Journal entries do not require
knowledge
of debits or credits
Many systems require a detailed
knowledge
of accounting that only an accountant
may
have. Basic Builder® is a less demanding system. Only when the
system is setup must the accounts
be marked
with their normal balance of
credit or debit.
We provide a sample set of accounts
with
this normal balance specified.
When using
journal entries (typically at
the end of
the month) you indicate whether
your entry
should cause an increase or a
decrease in
the account's balance. The program
determines
if a credit or a debit is required.
To protect
the integrity of your books,
the program
requires double entry balancing
and will
not let you leave until the session
is in
balance.
Few but the most sophisticated
software programs
offer posting to the Job Cost
ledger by using
a journal entry. Basic Builder®
makes this
simple and easy as you can see
