CDCI Donates Accounting and Estimating
Sofware
to Habitat for Humanity
ATLANTA, GA- August 25, 2000- Construction Data Control, Inc. (CDCI),
designer and developer of construction
management
software, recently donated accounting
and
estimating software donation
for the nonprofit
building organization, Habitat
for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-government,
nonprofit, organization that
specializes
in building low income housing
for stable
and hardworking families in over
60 countries.
CDCI's software offers Habitat
the ability
to save a substantial amount
of money, which
can be directed at housing more
needy families.
Habitat for Humanity acquires all its financing
needs from Church's and corporations.
Habitat
then determines housing based
on need and
they target balanced families
that lack the
funds for housing. Tony Eyle, Construction Manager for Habitat for Humanity,
is North Fulton (GA) states that the primary
use for CDCI's Basic Builder and BasicEst software is to help organize both Habitat's estimating
home costs and infrastructure
costs to determine
where they are currently losing
money.
Eyl adds that Habitat's great need for our
software comes from the fact that their land
costs are higher and harder to determine
because they build on different types of
land. They also have to work around obstacles
such as sewer and storm lines. CDCI software
will help with this problem by determining
costs and construction factors up front,
so that there are no surprises during the
building cycle. Eyl also states that costs
became greater that anticipated and that
they were spending more money than they were
receiving because they had no professional
estimating software and all their estimates
were made in approximations.
According to Eyl, "even though Habitat
for Humanity is a non-profit housing administration,
the nuts and bolts of its construction must
still be run like a business. Properly estimating
costs is the key to assuring that Habitat
will effectively maintain its goal of sustaining
housing in the North Fulton area." Eyl
adds that because all their funding comes
from sponsors in "good faith,"
that they have a greater need and responsibility
to save money. CDCI's professional and accounting
software makes saving money and achieving
their goals possible for Habitat for Humanity.
Corporate and church donations such as our
software packages are critical
to the success
of Habitat. For more information
